Why sponsor a child to go to school?
Most people in Haiti do not have a formal education. Education is the key to getting a job and having a future. There are so few jobs in Haiti, it is nearly impossible to get a job without at least some kind of elementary education. Haitian schools teach subjects similar to the United States: Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, Science.. More and more schools are teaching English as well. Speaking English is a sought-after credential in hiring. Haitian families must pay for their children to go to school. If the family can not afford it, which most of them can't, the children do not attend.
Why sponsor a child to go to school through Corban Ministries?
We are a smaller mom and pop type ministry that focuses on the little guy. Many organizations are so large and their missions are so global, they overlook children who end up falling through the cracks. That's where we come in! Our vision is to enable children who are NOT already enrolled in school the opportunity to be able to attend. Our overhead costs are less, therefore the fees to sponsor a student are less. It only costs $200 annually or $17 per month to sponsor a student. Your sponsorship funds cover Registration, Tuition, Test Fees, Books, Uniforms and Transfer Fees.
