Petit Bois Orphans

Picture
It's an amazing story of how God changed the direction we were on from seeing a "Waterfall" to the seeing "Watercress" in order to lead us to the small village of Petit Bois halfway up the mountain from Montrouis.  God made the way for us to discover a group of orphans who sleep on the floor of their Pastor's home to survive.  Pastor Cheresme and Jean Roger (JR) Dorsanvil do their best to care for these children and try to educate them.  We knew instantly that God was calling us to minister to these children and this community.  Our ultimate goal is to build an orphanage in Petit Bois.

How do we answer that call?

1. GOATS

We believe in sustainability so we provided them with a pair of goats to breed and eat or sell from our sustainability program.  In October of 2016, Hurricane Matthew  killed one of the goats so we replaced it immediately after the storm.

2. FOOD

We help by providing a variety of foods which aide in nutritional and cooking value.  Rice, beans, vegetables, pasta, etc.. help the kids stay healthy and vibrant.

3. SCHOOL SUPPLIES

JR and Pastor Cheresme use the church building as a school for the kids during the week.  Corban Ministries has been able to provided some school supplies to help with the orphans education.  Even simple things such as a pencil sharpener are taken for granted here in America.  More school supplies an adequate chalkboards are desperately needed.

4. HURRICANE MATTHEW RELIEF

The effects of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti were catastrophic.  Even though most of the flood damage was in the Sud (south), the rest of the country did not escape without its own devastation.  The Ouest (west) was pummeled hard with hurricane winds winds and much rain which caused huge mudslides.  Pastor Cheresme's roof was blown off his house, the orphan's garden (one of their main food sources) was completely destroyed, their male goat was killed and the surrounding houses, made of sticks, rocks and mud, were demolished.  We were able to put a new roof on Pastor's house, replace the goat, bring food, and provide enough seedlings to replant the garden.  Thank you and may the Lord bless everyone who donated to help with that effort!
